Dr Malcolm E. Brown has over 170 diverse publications. As a blogger (including in the Chemist & Druggist, established in 1859), columnist, and award-winning article writer, his works include scientific papers (for example, The International Journal of Pharmacy Practice), short stories, and books, including a novel. His writing has been described as “thought-provoking,” “exceptionally elegant,” and capable of painting “a superb picture.”
Experience
Malcolm’s success is rooted in his polymathic background and extensive experience. He holds a BA, master’s and doctorate degrees in natural and social scientific research and is a pharmacist (now retired). In 2021, he was elected a FRPharmS (Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society) for his outstanding contributions to the profession of pharmacy. His experience spans community, industry, and senior roles in the British National Health Service (NHS). As a Director of Pharmacy at a district general hospital and Civil Emergency Planning, he demonstrated his leadership and coordination skills with blue-light services.
Later, as a consultant, he trained a major international company’s entire UK sales force on selling medicines to the NHS. He certified medicine batches as an EU Qualified Person (QP), a quasi-governmental role. His name appeared on several licenses for human, veterinary, and investigational medicinal products. He has audited and advised in multiple countries. As a keynote speaker at an international multidisciplinary conference at The Hague, his role as a sociologist was to encourage out-of-the-box thinking.
