My original published writing was several illustrated articles for Muhibba, the in flight magazine for Royal Brunei Airlines, when, for a number of years, I lived and worked in Negara Brunei Darussalam. I also wrote for the Borneo Bulletin, the local paper, where I ws graced with a few front page reports. These writings covered the indigenous peoples of Borneo and their crafts, from lost wax casting, weaving and cane work to the construction of the long house, manufacture of the long jungle blow pipe, the Iban river prau and their parangs. In more recent years I have enjoyed drafting children’s stories, mainly about a forest community of bewitched creatures. Encouraged by my children, I have slowly (very slowly) been tidying up the various episodes and have approached publishers. I so love writing the stories and creating new characters to expand my forest tales, myths and legends, now using the New Forest (my home in Hampshire) as the base for inspiration. Previously these characters lived in the rain forest of Borneo and were stories for children at that time. My wife pointed me in the direction of the SoA and I now look forward to future networking with other authors.
