Jane Rogers has written ten novels, ranging from contemporary to historical to science fiction. The Testament of Jessie Lamb was Man-Booker longlisted and winner of the Arthur C Clarke Award 2012. Other works include Mr Wroe’s Virgins (which she dramatised as an award-winning BBC drama series), Her Living Image (Somerset Maugham Award) and Promised Lands (Writers Guild Best Fiction Award). Her story collection Hitting Trees with Sticks was shortlisted for the 2013 Edgehill Award. Jane also writes radio drama and adaptations; her adaptation of Anita Desai’s Clear Light of Day was broadcast in the Sunday Drama slot on BBC R4 in August 2024. Jane’s second short story collection, Fire-Ready, was published by Comma Press in December 2024.

Jane has taught writing to a wide range of students, and is Professor Emerita of Writing at Sheffield Hallam, where she taught on the MA Writing for many years. Currently she teaches for Faber Academy, on the MSt in Creative Writing at Oxford, and mentors for Gold Dust. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
