I am a British translator and writer, based in Berlin. My specialisms are fiction, arts and journalism. I have been a reader for New Books in German since 2013 and joined the jury in summer 2023.

Siblings by Brigitte Reimann (Penguin Modern Classics, UK and Transit Books USA) is my most recent book translation, for which I was the runner-up in the 2023 Schlegel-Tieck translation prize. I was interviewed in the Guardian about Reimann’s work my translation was reviewed in the New Yorker, TLS and LRB, among others.
