Georgia de Chamberet is an editor, translator and writer. She founded BookBlast Ltd writers’ agency in 1997. Early clients included Onyekachi Wambu who edited ‘Empire Windrush: Fifty Years of Writing about Black Britain’ (1998) published in the US under the title ‘Hurricane Hits England’. The first company website went live in 2000. BookBlast is a registered trademark in the UK and US. The BookBlast Diary & Podcast were launched nine years ago to celebrate independent trade publishing and international writing with a focus on France.
In the 1990s she had worked as an editor at Quartet Books with Stephen Pickles, and was responsible for publishing Annie Ernaux, Tahar Ben Jelloun and Gisèle Pineau in translation among others. She went on to edit the anthology XCiTés showcasing 15 writers under 40 untranslated into English when Harpercollins published the collection in 1999 — including Frédéric Beigbeder, Tonino Benacquista, Virginie Despentes and Abdourahman Waberi.
