Writer of best-selling crime and children's novels, ex-BBC journalist.

Barbara Henderson is a former BBC journalist who writes under the name of Bea Davenport. Her debut crime novel, In Too Deep, was shortlisted for the Luke Bitmead Bursary and was published by Legend Press in 2013. A second novel in the genre, This Little Piggy, was also published by Legend Press in 2014. Her debut children's novel, The Serpent House, was shortlisted for the 2010 Times/Chicken House Award and published by Curious Fox in 2014. It is a historical time fantasy for a readership of approx 9  -12 years and was written as part of a Creative Writing PhD at Newcastle University. An interactive e-book written for Fiction Express, My Cousin Faustina, is published by ReadZone Books (2015).

A YA novel, The Misper, is to be published by The Conrad Press in December 2017.

Barbara lives in Berwick upon Tweed with her partner and children. She also teaches journalism and creative writing.
