Emeritus Fellow in Spanish at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge. My latest book is 'Lost Paradise: the story of Granada', published by Head of Zeus, 2021. Previous books: The Moor's Last Stand: how seven centuries of Muslim rule in Spain came to an end, published by Profile Books in April 2017.The Lead Books of Granada was published in paperback by Palgrave MacMillan in 2013, and The King and the Whore: King Roderick and La Cava' was also published by Palgrave MacMillan in 2007. My bilingual edition and translation  of the medieval Spanish 'Book of Good Love' was the first to be published in England. I live in Cambridge and Norfolk.
