I joined The SOA twenty five years ago when starting out as an EFL author specialising in writing books for children, including classroom textbooks, home study resources, children's books, dictionaries and other teaching resources. I gave this up in the late nineties to concentrate on other kinds of writing: I wrote a couple of novels for children and adults and a handful of plays - which became ever more experimental - examining the interface between theatre, performance and contemporary art. This led eventually into a move sideways into a general arts environment when I set up the fledgling arts centre, Bank Street Arts in Sheffield, in 2008. Now a registered charity, and working with artists, writers, musicians and anything in between I have continued to work on this largely unfunded project for the last eight years.
