He was AHRC Creative and Performing Arts Fellow at the Pinter Centre, Goldsmiths in European and African performance; a Judith E. Wilson Fellow for creative writing at Cambridge University; and Writer in Residence at the Manchester Royal Exchange. Plays include <em>Stop and Search<\/em> (Arcola Theatre), <em>Hotel Orpheu<\/em> (Schaub\u00fchne, Berlin), and for radio <em>The Long, Hot Summer of \u201976<\/em> (BBC Radio 3) which won the Richard Imison Award. She was chief arts correspondent of the London Evening Standard and arts and media correspondent of The Independent and Independent on Sunday having previously campaigned on issues including debt in the developing world and Nazi gold.
