His stories have been anthologized, read on the radio and published in prestigious journals. His most recent short story \u2018Laptop\u2019 featured in The Iowa Review. He teaches Creative Writing at Goldsmiths. His first theatrical success was the play <em>Lady Frederick<\/em>&nbsp;(1907). During World War One, he worked for the British Secret Service and witnessed the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 in Russia. He later spent World War Two in Hollywood working on script adaptations. One of his most famous works is his semi-autobiographical novel, <em>Of Human Bondage<\/em>, which has never been out of print since it was first published in 1915. Maugham&#8217;s successful writing career spanned over fifty years and established him as one of the most renowned authors of the 20th Century. He was even the highest-paid author in the world during the 1930s.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The Somerset Maugham Award <\/strong>was set up in 1947 by a fund from the author to encourage young writers to
