DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first Community Hub event in the SoA Space as we celebrate National Writing Day with a special focus on crime writers.\nGrab pens\, pencils or laptops and celebrate the power and pleasure of creative writing on National Writing Day. \nMembers and Non-Members are invited to our London office on Bedford Row on Friday 26 June for a day of writing\, networking and hearing author tips and advice from bestselling crime writer and SoA Board member\, Nadine Matheson. He has written poetry\, picture books and stories for all ages\, including historical fiction set in a wide range of periods. He has worked extensively in educational books for children as an editor and as a writer. He was Lead Author of Project X\, a major reading scheme from OUP\, and also editor of Hachette’s Astros\, a graded reading scheme for children with literacy problems. He has edited many anthologies\, has been active in authors’ organisations – he was Chair of the SoA’s Children’s Writers and illustrators Group (CWIG) Chair of the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) between 2016 and 2022\, and Co-Chair of The Copyright Licensing Agency at the same time\, and also Chair of the Siobhan Dowd Trust. Together with Charlotte Collins\, she won the 2020 Warwick Prize for Women in Translation\, for Nino Haratischwili’s epic novel The Eighth Life. Ruth has taught at the University of Kent and the Bristol Translates summer school.
