SUMMARY:Gloucestershire Group: From Shelf to Sale
DESCRIPTION:Join our ever-growing\, dynamic Gloucestershire Group on Thursday 23 April from 2 pm for a talk with Leena Batchelor! \nLeena is a spoken word artist\, published author\, poet\, and former Worcestershire Poet Laureate. She is the owner of Script Haven bookshop in Worcester\, which is a bookshop\, a cafe\, and an event hub all in one place. Script Haven predominantly supports indie authors and publishers\, and it is also a finalist for the Independent Bookshop of the Year 2026 Midlands. \nLeena is coming ready to answer our questions about how we can get our books from the shelf to sale. Everything\, including what most annoys booksellers about authors? Should we judge a book by its publisher? Are book signings worth it? \nCome with your own questions. \nLook forward to seeing you there. \nWe will meet in the ground-floor meeting room within the Monastery Café\, Prinknash Abbey\, Cranham\, GL4 8EX. \nThe venue has great accessibility: there is a large\, free car park\, above the café building. Walk down steps or a gentle slope to access the café entrance. The meeting room is immediately to your left on entering\, with toilets opposite. DESCRIPTION:Join our ever-growing\, dynamic Gloucestershire Group on Thursday\, 26 February from 2pm. \nA.I: Progress or Pandora’s Box? \nThis month\, we are delighted to welcome Dr Duncan Dicks both to our group and to leading this conversation on Artificial Intelligence. Duncan is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Gloucestershire. He has recently been researching and teaching the uses and ethics of A.I. in creative writing. \nHe will be leading a workshop in the first part of the afternoon\, so bring your computer\, phone or device if you want to participate in some A.I. exercises!
