SUMMARY:South East London Group: Creative Goal Setting with Jenny Alexander
DESCRIPTION:Join the South East London Group on Tuesday 12 May from 4pm for a discussion on creative goal setting with Jenny Alexander. \nCreative goal setting is not like making New Year’s resolutions\, which result in success or failure. It’s more like writing fiction\, when you need a rough idea about how the story will unfold and end\, to give you a sense of direction and help you get started\, but you expect this to change as the story develops. Creative goals\, for work or life in general\, are always a work in progress. They are also completely individual – there’s no one size fits all – and so is the methodology for working towards them. Things like daily word counts and the pomodoro method\, for example\, work great for some people\, but they paralyse my writing because it’s the beautiful movement of the process\, not pressure to perform\, that brings me home to writing every day. \nFor more information on Jenny Alexander and her books\, articles and workshops\, take a look at her website www.jennyalexander.co.uk . \nAs usual the format will be: 10-15 minutes talk\, followed by discussion\, then social time. \nWe will meet at a NEW LOCATION: Bell House\, 27 College Road\, Dulwich\, London SE21 7BG. Refreshments will be DIY\, so please bring your own drinks and snacks! \nAll members welcome! \nLocal Groups meetings are run by our wonderful volunteers\, who kindly give their time to support their local writing community. As such\, please be mindful of limitations on their time and capacity for running the group. \nTo attend the meeting\, click the Going button below and fill out the RSVP form. If you do not receive a confirmation email\, or have trouble signing up\, please contact localgroups@societyofauthors.org.
