DESCRIPTION:All members welcome to join the Warwickshire Group on Saturday 11 July from 11am-1pm for our annual Summer Picnic Social in Jephson Gardens\, Leamington Spa\, CV32 4AA. \nThis is an informal event and a chance to chat about all things writing. \nWe shall meet initially by the Clock Tower in the centre of the park by 11am before finding a space nearer the river to settle. \nPlease bring your own food/snacks/drinks but\, if you forget or need extras\, the independent Aviary Café in the park also sells plenty of treats to take away. \nThere are public toilets by the Clock Tower. \nIn the case of obstinate weather\, we shall agree on a nearby café and go there together. \nThis is a free event. \nIf you get lost or are late and can’t find us\, we’ll keep an eye on the WhatsApp chat. \nTo join us\, click the Going button below and enter your details in the RSVP form so we have an idea of how many people are planning to attend. \nPlease contact us with any questions.

We’ll spend 5-10 minutes at the start of the meeting to set our individual goals\, then everyone will concentrate on their work before reconvening at 11.50 to share what we have achieved.  \nWe will meet at Café Desa\, 3 Regent Grove\, Leamington Spa\, CV32 4NY. Free to attend\, but everyone is asked to buy a drink or two (and a snack if you fancy) from the cafe as they kindly allow us to use their space for free. DESCRIPTION:All members are welcome to join the Warwickshire Group on Wednesday 20 May from 7.30pm for an evening focused on Direct Selling to Readers. \nThe meeting will be held in the Okens Room at The Oddfellows Hall\, 22 New Street\, Leamington Spa\, Warwickshire\, CV31 1HP. \nFran Hill will chair the event. Our speaker\, Sheila Robinson\, will share her experiences of direct selling at a wide variety of events including bookshop appearances\, talks to groups\, and running stalls at book or craft fairs. She’ll discuss the role of confidence – something she’s had to develop – and offer potential strategies to help you with your own events. \nWarwick-based Sheila Robinson writes mystery fiction and historical nonfiction as SC Skillman. She is both self-published and traditionally-published. Sheila has overcome a natural disinclination to promote herself in order to give author talks to groups. She also hires stalls at fairs where she engages with the reading public\, sells her own books and does author signings. \nPlease bring your own ideas\, experiences and questions to throw into the mix in the ensuing discussion. We would love to hear how you have approached ‘selling your wares’ in any context or\, if you haven’t dared\, what has stopped you? \nThere will be a break at ‘half-time’ for tea\, coffee and biscuits.
