SUMMARY:Surrey Group: A Love Letter to the Planet
DESCRIPTION:A Love Letter to the Planet – the poem that became a play\, then a blog\, and now a book. \nJoin the Surrey Group on Tuesday 14 April from 12pm to hear from dramatist\, poet and blogger Tony Earnshaw about blogging\, blook production and the benefits of juggling genres. \nBlogging has become a feature of the writing landscape\, and it can create demand for more. Tony’s blog started as a means of increasing his readership – and of imposing some discipline on his writing life. As someone who flits from scripts to poems to novels to memoir\, he felt discipline was both needed and often sadly lacking. And now\, in response to demand\, the blog is a blook\, A Love Letter to the Planet – and the people on it. Tony shares something of what has been learnt along the way\, along with excerpts from the book. \nTony Earnshaw:Tony Earnshaw is an award-winning playwright\, a poet\, librettist\, and novelist.  These aspects of his work all contribute to the new book\, which covers topics ranging from cycling across Kenya to walking the mountains of Cumbria\, from world events to the vagaries and idiosyncrasies of the English countryside\, and includes a section of rewritten fairy tales\, musings on the seasons\, memories of Covid\, and shared passions for the arts. \nhttps://tonyearnshaw.substack.com \nhttps://www.tonyearnshaw.co.uk \nWe’ll meet at The Seahorse\, 52-54 The Street\, Shalford\, Guildford\, GU4 8BU. \nAll writerly and bookish guests welcome! \nTo attend the meeting\, click the Going button below and fill out the RSVP form. If you do not receive a confirmation email\, or have trouble signing up\, please contact localgroups@societyofauthors.org. \n Please email member-volunteer Howard Matthews with any questions.

SUMMARY:Surrey Group: Navigating the World of Audiobook Production with Anne-Lise Kadri
DESCRIPTION:From Page to Playback: Navigating the World of Audiobook Production \nJoin the Surrey Group on Tuesday 10 March from 12pm to hear from professional Voiceover artist and coach Anne-Lise Kadri about navigating the world of audiobook production. \n“My background is over 25 years in teaching before deciding to focus on the power and magic of the human voice. Over the years\, I have voiced all sorts of projects from answerphone messages to eLearning\, explainer videos\, children’s animation on TV and of course…audiobooks\, which is where my real passion lies. Whether it is fiction or non-fiction\, for children or adults\, I love breathing life into the written word. The world of audiobooks is growing exponentially. As an author\, if you haven’t yet considered breaking into the market\, you may well want to at some stage but it can be a minefield of questions and uncertainty. Having helped numerous authors navigate this process from production to publication\, I am here to explain the different steps and hopefully answer any questions you might have along the way.” \nWe’ll meet at The Seahorse\, 52-54 The Street\, Shalford\, Guildford\, GU4 8BU.
