DESCRIPTION:Join the Ireland Group for our next online meet-up on Wednesday 7 October at 19:00. We’ll meet on Zoom for a talk with author Kathryn Taussig. \nNiamh will interview Kathryn about her many areas of expertise within the business. Please email Niamh (niamhkm@gmail.com) before Monday 5 October with any specific questions you’d like her to ask. There will also be time to put your questions to Kathryn at the session itself. \nAbout Kathryn \nKathryn Taussig has published books across every genre from romance to crime thriller to fantasy. Her authors have repeatedly hit the top ten in the US\, UK and Australian Kindle charts and seen their books become bestsellers in ebook\, audio and paperback. \nAlongside her editorial and acquisitions work\, Kathryn oversees Storm’s international publishing. She manages partnerships with publishers around the world\, leads the translation programme\, and works with authors to get their books into new languages and markets. \nKathryn is driven to help authors hone their stories to reach their maximum sales potential\, wherever their readers are. There’s nothing like getting a book into thousands of readers’ hands\, and so allowing the author to make a good living from doing what they love most. Whether you’re about to sign one\, preparing for future negotiations or just looking to build your knowledge of the business side of writing. Join the SoA’s Sarah Burton for this session offering practical guidance on: \n\nUnderstanding copyright and permissions\nProtecting your moral rights\nThe essentials of publishing contracts\nAvoiding common contractual pitfalls\nNegotiating with confidence\n\nThere will be a Q&A afterwards so if you have a burning question about contracts either trad or Indie now is your chance. \nAbout Sarah\nSarah Burton is Deputy Chief Executive at the SoA and she leads the advisory service\, which provides members with unlimited professional advice. Working closely with the team\, Sarah supports authors by offering expert guidance on all aspects of the business of writing. As a coordinator of the Children’s Writers and Illustrators Group\, a special interest group within the SoA\, she has a particular interest in industry issues affecting creators of children’s books. \nWe will meet at The Lord Palmerston\, 33 Dartmouth Park Hill\, London NW5 1HU. \nImportant Note: \nThe Lord Palmerston now has a new owner and as a consequence we no longer have our 10% food discount.
