SUMMARY:SoA Community Hub | Finding your way into writing
DESCRIPTION:How do you get yourself from not-writing to writing? The transition often feels tricky\, and always deserves attention and care. \nIn this in-person workshop\, hosted by SoA member and writer Emily Troscianko\, we’ll explore ways of crossing the threshold into writing—approaches suited to waking up and getting going in the morning\, but also useful at other times of day and when facing procrastination\, perfectionism\, uncertainty\, distraction\, interruption\, or dread at any point in a project. \nThe session is suitable for writers at any stage and across genres. You’ll test out mini rituals that may support focus\, energy\, and other ingredients crucial to writing\, before designing personal versions that fit your own writing life and projects—and your own instincts about what types of ritual are truly valuable. You’ll also have a chance to get a little bit of focused writing done in the company of other writers.  \nDr Emily Troscianko draws on her experience as a writer\, researcher and coach\, including many years of designing and running writing workshops at the University of Oxford and elsewhere. \n  \nPlaces are limited and subject to availability. \nThis event is £9.50 for SoA Members | £19.50 for Non-Members \nNot a member? Sign up here. \n  \nProgramme\n\n10.45am – Event starts | Refreshments on arrival\n11am – Welcome and introductions\n11.05am – Workshop hosted by Emily Troscianko\n12pm – Comfort break (10 mins)\n12.10pm – Workshop resumes\n12.30pm – Workshop ends\n\n  \nThe Line up\nEmily Troscianko\nEmily is a writer\, researcher\, and coach. She helps individuals navigate career change and recovery and build work-life habits that feel meaningful and alive. She runs the independent imprint Tamarisk Books and publishes in academic journals and experimental life-writing. Recent books include a consciousness textbook\, an ethics-tested recovery memoir\, and a children’s story about selfishness. \nWebsite: https://troscianko.com \n  \nAccessibility\n\nOur Events space is located on the ground floor of our office.
