Warwickshire Group: Literary Festivals

Join the Warwickshire Group on Thursday 3 April from 7.30pm for a fascinating peek behind the scenes of a literary festival with Jacci Gooding.

Jacci is Festival Director for the South Warwickshire Literary Festival, an event born from the germ of an idea during the Covid pandemic in 2022 in the tiny Warwickshire village of Fenny Compton. Now in its fourth year, the festival goes from strength to strength, championing local authors, some of whom are big-name speakers. Jacci is a self-published fiction author who has also written non-fiction for magazines. A member of the Society of Authors, she has a diploma in creative writing from Oxford University and is working on a novel. 

Jacci will speak to us about how the festival started, how it’s progressed, and what she’s learned about the ups and downs of running a literary festival. What can such a festival offer to the local author? What can local authors offer to the festival?

There will be time for questions and discussion. Bring your own festival experiences with you.

We will meet at Esquires Coffee, 52-54 Warwick Street, Leamington Spa, CV32 5JS. The venue is wheelchair-accessible.

The café has generously given us their venue without charge but would be absolutely delighted to sell you drinks and snacks. Please come prepared, all members welcome from the surrounding area!
