SoA members recognised in 2020 New Year’s Honours List

Congratulations to SoA Council member Rose Tremain and SoA member Dreda Say Mitchell who have been recognised for their services to literature in the 2020 New Year’s Honours List, as well as SoA member Frances Mensah Williams – recognised for her services to the African community in the UK and Africa and appointed CBE. SoA member Ruth Barnett was also recognised for her services to holocaust education and awareness with a MBE.

Scots Makar Jackie Kay, last year’s host for the Society of Authors’ Awards, was also appointed CBE.

The New Year Honours list recognises the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the UK. Tremain was made a Dame; Mitchell was acknowledged for her educational work in prisons and received an MBE.
