SoA now represented on national and international lobbying boards

20 February 2018

Our Chief Executive, Nicola Solomon, has been elected to the council of the Creative Industries Federation (CIF), as well as to the steering committee of the International Authors’ Forum (IAF).

The council works closely with the CIF to help ensure the creative industries are central to the UK’s political, economic and social decision-making. The CIF works across party lines and at every level of government to create the right conditions for continued success in the creative industries, making reports and submissions to represent the concerns of their members – now including the Society of Authors.

The IAF is a forum for discussion, debate and action on a global scale between organisations representing authors, such as the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society, the Writers’ Union of Canada, the Authors’ Guild, the Australian Society of Authors and many more.

Solomon also sits on the board of the European Writers’ Council – a federation of 50 national and transnational organisations of professional writers and literary translators in 34 countries – and serves as head of their copyright working group, as well as sitting on the board of the British Copyright Council, a forum for discussion of copyright law and related issues at UK, European and international levels.

The SoA will continue to campaign for authors’ rights both in the UK and internationally, now with greater reach than ever before.
