Authors' earnings are in decline. Poor contract terms are part of the problem. We are campaigning for a review of laws applicable to creator contracts, introduction of legislation to address unfair contract terms and fair sharing of reward throughout the value chain. Find out more.
Copyright is founded on the principle that authors own the right to their intellectual creations and should have the right to authorise others to use their work or not, as they choose. The SoA works at UK, EU and international levels to protect and promote a strong copyright regime. Find out more.
Brexit poses a number of potential risks for authors and other creators. We highlighted a number of these, and made proposals on how to mitigate them, in our submission to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee’s consultation on the impact of Brexit on the creative industries, tourism and the digital single market.
