Event details

Do you want to write stories that reveal the dark heart of the modern world? Do you find antiheroes and conflicted protagonists intriguing? Do you suspect the motives of the police, government, corporations, and other large organisations?

If so, Neo Noir is the genre you should be writing. Updating the themes of classic Film Noir, it’s uniquely suited to revealing the dark side of modernity.

The workshop will look at how the genre can apply to diverse protagonists and contemporary, non-US settings. Clips, discussion and exercises will help you to develop your own stories, and a Facebook group after the day will keep up the momentum.

Tutor: Ian Long
