« I was born on the south coast of Brittany. I loved languages from a very young age and studied English, German and Russian at school. I read English at Paris University. I came to London to work as a foreign language assistant for what was meant be a year. That was over 30 years ago and I have made London my home!

I completed my BA Hons and went on to do an MA in Literary Translation. I started my career in publishing in 1986, writing and editing foreign language magazines for Mary Glasgow Publications, where I learnt most of what there was to know about publishing good language learning material.

Among my particular interests are language awareness in young children, bilingualism, intercultural understanding, the use of music and drama in language teaching and writing fiction and non-fiction for language learners.

Over the years, I have worked with most UK educational publishers as consultant, editor and author of language material and have extensive experience of writing and editing French materials for learners of all ages and all abilities.

I have co-written successful coursebooks in French for all ages, among others French Experience for adults and  French is Fun for primary schools for the BBC, award-winning secondary courses like Equipe and Elan, for OUP, Panorama Francophone for the IB Language Ab Initio for CUP.

I have developed material at all level of abilities, from learners with special needs to high flyers. I co-wrote materials aimed at raising young children’s awareness of foreign languages and cultures, such as the Language Readers (Ticktock)  and France Live for OUP.

I have written supplementary material as varied as  language magazines, songs, stories, picture books, plays, readers, CD-roms, language apps, revision material (BBC Bitesize French) , interactive material for online courses and interactive whiteboard, as well as non-fiction trade books and information books in English about French culture and the lives of children in France, e.g. Young Reporter in France series by Franklin Watts.

I also write and contribute to EFL material. With Sue Finnie, I co-wrote an EFL course for French primary schools called Busy Box , English playlets for Delta Publishing, interactive whiteboard lessons for Scholastic, as well as a series of readers for French publisher ABC Melody. »
