MEET THE PLAYWRIGHTS
WGGB EVENT: MONDAY 12 JUNE 2017, LONDON
TICKETS: FREE TO WGGB MEMBERS (£10/£5 NON-MEMBERS)
WGGB continues its series of popular panel events, this time with playwrights Bryony Lavery (The Believers, Queen Coal, Thursday, Treasure Island), Ali Taylor (Fault Lines, Cotton Wool, Overspill) and Charlene James (Tweet Tweet, Cuttin’ It).
All at different stages of their career, they will talk about the business and processes involved in the world of playwriting.
The event, which takes place on Monday 12 June 2017 in London, will discuss:
• How to establish and maintain a career as a playwright
• Whether different labels given to playwrights, eg ‘emerging’, ‘mid-career’, ‘established’, help or hinder
• Changes and developments in the theatre industry
• The joys and challenges of writing for theatre
Poppy Corbett, a playwright and Co-Chair of WGGB’s London & South East Committee, will chair the event.
Tickets are free to members of WGGB, and for non-members cost £10/£5 concessions, plus a small Eventbrite ticket-handling fee.
The discussion will close with an audience Q&A.
There will be time for networking drinks afterwards.
The event takes place on Monday 12 June 2017, 8-10pm, St Alban’s Centre, 18 Brooke Street, London EC1N 7RD. Please arrive to be seated by 7.45pm.
The event is organised by members of WGGB’s London & South East and Theatre Committees.
Previous events, which have also included audience Q&As with industry experts, include Meet the Radio Drama Producers (see picture, attached) and Meet the World of Graphic Fiction.
