Helen Dunmore was the inaugural Orange Prize winner in 1996 with her novel A Spell of Winter and is a Fellow of the RSL. Her work includes fiction, children’s and young adult fiction and poetry. She has won the SoA’s McKitterick Prize and been on shortlists for the T.S. Eliot Prize, Folio Prize and Walter Scott Prize. Her 2010 poem The Malarkey won the National Poetry Competition.
